2021 windsurf world championships

All-blue final at the Olympic Windsurfing World Championships RS: X male and female in Cadiz (Spain): With medium strong wind on the regatta course inside the gulf without waves, the two Medal Races of the male and female categories saw crossing the finish line to the tables with the tricolor, thanks to Mattia Camboni and Marta Maggetti, to which must be added the third place in the female Medal of the other blue Giorgia Speciale.

RS: MEN’S X – Mattia Camboni (Blue Flames) crowned an intense and great athlete’s World Championship by dominating the Medal Race. Started uphill with a test definitely out of his values, he then put together all the top positions including a first heat (21-6-1-2-4-6-4-11-10-2 *) in weather conditions not ideal for him, with very strong wind and rough sea.

Mattia got off to a good start and wins with a gap after passing the Greek Byron Kokkalanis on the second step of the podium.

RS: X FEMALE – The Italian surfers close to the double in the Medal Race: Marta Maggetti’s beautiful victory precedes the English Emma Wilson and the other blue Giorgia Speciale. The woman from Cagliari closes the World Cup with a sumptuous 6th place (19-12-8-5-7-5-7-3-6-2 *), confirming herself as one of the most solid athletes in the category, capable of finishing fifth twice and once sixth in the last three Olympic windsurfing world championships.

INTERVIEW:

MATTIA CAMBONI (FIAMME AZZURRE): “I went into the water determined and I thought of nothing but winning the Medal. This second medal in three months gives me great joy, it repays all the sacrifices made in these difficult months, with few opportunities to confront the opponents. As I said yesterday it’s another dream that comes true, it’s nice to get used to dreams, I don’t want to stop! “

GIORGIA SPECIALE (CC ANIENE): “It was an uphill world championship from the start, I tried to redeem myself, but unfortunately only a tenth place came out as a result. Sure the conditions weren’t my favorite but … Okay. I would like to thank the Italian Sailing Federation for having been very close to us in this period, and to congratulate Mattia for his silver! “
